Dear {NAME}, 2020 has been a difficult year for our country. A pandemic and health crisis has taken 260,000 lives and counting. An economic catastrophe has devastated tens of millions of jobs and small businesses. And the tragic murders of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and Ahmaud Arbery remind us the cancer of systemic racism thrives. Moreover, today is also remembered as the National Day of Mourning. A day in which our Native American sisters and brothers remember and mourn the centuries of ongoing genocide of America's Indigenous communities. These difficulties, atrocities, and struggles make it difficult to give thanks or remember the blessings we have in our lives. And it is in these difficult times that I ask you to reflect that while we cannot change what has happened, we can work together with compassion to push for a more just and fair future. This Thanksgiving, while I mourn those we've lost, while I mourn the injustices we face, I am still thankful for what lies ahead of us. I am thankful to have a community of compassionate people dedicated to building that more perfect union, that more perfect world, together. I am thankful that we are not giving up but are continuing to march forward with every God-given breath we have. I am thankful to wake up and have the privilege to serve humanity. While we may be separate from many of our loved ones today, we are together in spirit and with the hope that there is ease after hardship, surely there is ease after hardship. Thank you all for continuing to serve all humanity with the human dignity that we all deserve. For you, I am grateful. God bless you and your family.
