[image] Dear Trader, I love it when people go out of their way to learn and get better at their craft, and I’m glad you’ve chosen to hone in on your technical analysis skills. Before I get into the reasons why I believe everyone should learn how to use charts, I wanted to introduce myself. I studied Finance at Fairfield University, and I had the opportunity to intern at Merrill Lynch (before it got bought out by Bank of America). It was my first introduction to Wall Street, and I fell in love… I just couldn’t keep myself away. After I graduated, I knew the only way I could get ahead of the competition was to educate myself more. Like any other college graduate, I hit that proverbial fork in the road. Do I study fundamental analysis, earn my CFA, and learn about companies? Do I study price action, how to trade stocks, and earn my CMT? For me, it was a no-brainer at the time… but little did I know it would change my life. I completed the CMT program in 2008, just before the global financial crisis and I learned a lot about the markets during that time… Price action and technical analysis rules. Of course, when traders first think of technical analysis… They just think of squiggly lines and how it’s all hindsight. However, I believe that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are key themes and intermarket relationships. If traders can identify what those are, I believe it’s easier to generate fresh ideas. Not sure if technical analysis is right for you? Let me put any doubts you might have about charting to bed and show you my approach to analyzing the markets.
