This Gets My Attention... 100% of the Time

Skin in the game. It’s an easy concept to understand. When I’m buying stocks, I want the people running the company to carry the same risks I do. I’m not asking for much. Just that if they tank the stock, company executives will be eating beans and selling meat out of a truck. They can’t screw their companies up, engage in accounting scams, or take three-month sabbaticals. They have to invest their time AND their money. I don’t want my companies run by someone who can come up with a dumb idea like New Coke with no consequences and just move on to the next stupid idea and the next stupid company. If they own the stock and they hit the ball out of the park, we’ll all make money. Honestly, I want these executives to get rich. Really rich. I just do not want the people managing the companies I own getting rich from inflated salaries and stock options while they lose me money.
