Undefined, Moving averages are ordinarily a trader’s best friend. But if you want to be success

[RagingBull Elite]( Undefined, Moving averages are ordinarily a trader’s best friend. But if you want to be successful in the markets right now, you have to throw them out the door. Allow us to explain after you take a quick look at the SPY here... [Image] One quick look at the SPY based on the 50-day or 200-day moving averages indicates that the market is— to say the least — overextended to the downside. And that would indicate that now is the time to go long on the index, right? Wrong. Right now, there are too many unknowns affecting the market. And these unknowns could cause the market to slip even further from the mean. This past week was a rough one for the markets, as all 11 of the S&P 500 sectors dipped below their 52-week highs by more than 20%. On top of that, we’re heading into what looks like it could be yet another week of red. Futures yesterday crumbled on news that the two parties in the Senate could not agree on a stimulus package to offset the impact of the coronavirus. Some pundits are even screaming “recession” on the major media channels, claiming that no stimulus package, rate cut, or tax decrease is enough to prevent what they see as inevitable. Put simply, the coronavirus is waging war on investor confidence and causing widespread uncertainty. And these unknowns are preventing what would otherwise be an ordinary reversion to the mean. But what we do know is this— at the moment, MOMENTUM is king. Fortunately, our traders here at RagingBull aren’t getting mired down by ineffective mean reversion strategies right now. Jason Bond, for example, just bagged over $30K in profits through his [Jason Bond Picks service]( last week using his momentum strategy.
