Fun fact: until 2016 when the JOBS Act flipped the game on its head, you had to be an âaccredited investorâ to take a stake in a private company. To qualify, you needed to make north of $200k per year and have a net worth of $1M or more. That meant more than 90% of Americans were barred from investing in the likes of Spotify, Uber and Beyond Meat before they went public.
But itâs the year of our lord 2019 and those strict regulations have gone the way of Adam Neumann and almost anyone with a bankroll and a pulse is able to invest in a company before it goes public.
Of course, that doesnât mean you should. In fact, the government had a damn good reason for only allowing sophisticated investors to pour their money into risky private companies: people are really, really stupid.
Which is exactly why you shouldnât go it alone.
Thatâs why weâve assembled a dream team of founders and investors to help plot your every moveâ¦

[On Wednesday, November 20th at 8:30 PM EST]( weâre heading to the boardroom to discussâ¦
- The government âloopholeâ that allows you to invest in private companies
- Why you should consider investing in private companies (spoiler: making âf*ck youâ money)
- How you can limit risk and maximize returns when investing in private companies.
