But when you learn to think like Jesus, you wonât worry about pleasing everyone. Jesus had the right focus. He was only concerned with pleasing God. Jesus was never manipulated by crowds or by the approval or disapproval of anybody else. He lived for an audience of one: âI try to please the One who sent meâ (John 5:30 NCV). When you have the mind of Christ, that’s what you do too. Wouldn’t it simplify your life to live for an audience of one? If God likes what youâre doing, then you know youâre doing the right thing. God says in Matthew 3:17, âThis is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleasedâ (NIV). Jesus was obviously doing it right. The truth is, you can’t please everybody. Even God can’t please everybody! When someone prays for it to be sunny, somebody else is praying for it to rain. Somebody is praying for their team to do well, and someone else wants the opposing team to win. You can’t please everybody. Luke 16:13 says, âNo one can serve two mastersâ (NIV). You have to decide whose approval youâre going to seekâGod’s approval or other peopleâs approval. Are you going to live for what other people think or what God thinks? When you’re always looking for validation from other people, it means you don’t really realize who you are. You donât understand what God made you to do, and you donât believe that he is always with you. Jesus never let someone elseâs approval or a fear of rejection control him. He wasnât out to win a popularity contest. He didn’t need other peopleâs opinions to validate himself. When you have the mind of Christ, you will be so secure in your identity, your purpose, and God’s presence in your life that you won’t need to look to other people for approval. [PLAY todayâs audio teaching from Pastor Rick >>]( Talk It Over - Why canât you fully realize your identity and purpose when you are worried about what other people think of you?
- What are your top goals? In each of those goals, whose approval is motivating you?
- How can knowing Godâs Word help you have the mind of Christ and be more concerned with his approval than other peopleâs approval? The first step toward having the mind of Christ If you want to start thinking like Jesus, the first thing you need to do is invite Jesus into your life. You canât have the mind of Christ without an intimate relationship with him. Pray this prayer: âDear God, I donât want to go another day without you in my life, controlling every part of my heart. In light of all youâve done for me, I give myself to you. âI confess my sin to you and ask that you forgive me for the many ways and many times I have ignored your will. I invite Jesus into my life. He is the only one who can truly transform my life and give me an eternal life with you. âFather, I want you to give me the mind of Christ. Help me to think the way you want me to think. I want to start living for an audience of oneâfor you. In Jesusâ name I pray. Amen.â If you just prayed to accept Jesus, please email me at Rick@PastorRick.com and let me know about it. Iâd like to send you some free materials to help you start your journey with Jesus. The post [Focus on Living for an Audience of One]( appeared first on [Pastor Rick's Daily Hope](.
