Here’s what you need most to endure heartache and loss. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  [Pastor Rick's Daily Hope](  {NAME}, Everyone goes through loss in life—from everyday disappointments to life-altering circumstances. And when loss happens to you, it often dishes up a lot more questions than answers . . . Why did the job you applied for go to someone else? Why is the dream you’ve been holding onto still unfulfilled? Why did your spouse lose their battle with cancer . . . or your best friend move away? Whether it’s a job, your health, a relationship, financial stability, or even a loved one, if you’ve been on this earth for any length of time, you understand the heartbreak of losing someone or something you love. Whatever your loss, grief is God’s tool for getting you through it. In fact, if you don’t grieve, you’ll get stuck. God himself understands grief. The Bible says he is "a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief" (Isaiah 53:3 ESV); he knows how you feel. When Jesus’ good friend Lazarus died, he responded just as you or I would—he got sad and cried: Jesus saw [Mary, Lazarus’s sister] weeping, and he saw how the people with her were weeping also; his heart was touched, and he was deeply moved . . . Jesus wept. "See how much he loved him!" the people said. (John 11:33, 35–36 GNT) Loss in life is inevitable, but grief is a choice. And while choosing to grieve can feel scary, you need to know you will never grieve alone.  Because when you’re in pain—no matter how great or how small—God doesn’t stand on the sidelines watching. Instead, he actually enters into your grief. He gets down into it with you.  Psalm 34:18 says, The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (NIV) Friend, your heart may be broken right now. It may have been broken for a long, long time. But when the Bible says God is close to the brokenhearted, that doesn’t mean he’s only close to other people with bigger, more tragic problems. He’s close to you. When it feels like God is a million miles away and he’s nowhere to be found, he’s actually as close to you as he can get. He is with you in your sorrow. The truth is, we simply don’t know why things happen the way they do. But we do know we can experience peace because God is with us, and he loves us. I want to help you better understand how God has equipped you to get through loss and other difficult circumstances by sending you the [How to Get Through What You’re Going Through Bible study.]( My wife, Kay, and I wrote this important study to help you walk through the journey of grief and understand what to expect along the way—from the initial shock to unbearable sorrow to ultimately, surrender on a pathway to peace.
