Choose life.â Deuteronomy 30:19 (GNT) People ask all the time, âHow could a loving God send people to hell?â Letâs suppose youâre addicted to drugs and living on the street. Your life is falling apart because of addiction, and you donât have a home or even a place to eat or bathe. Then someone comes along and says, âLet me help you out. I will take you to my house and help you get cleaned up and give you a new set of clothes and a good meal. And you can live at my house. You can become part of my family. In fact, Iâm going to adopt you. You can take my name! Iâm going to pay off all your debts. You can even have my credit card and access to the entire resources of my family. You donât have to earn it or work for it. Iâm doing this simply because I love you and want to show you grace. âHowever, if you live in my house as a part of my family, there are some house rules that you have to follow. We respect each other and help out with responsibilities around the house. And we donât do drugs in this house.â Is it reasonable to expect you to abide by the familyâs house rules? Of course. If theyâre extending an offer like that, the least they can expect is for you to respond to grace by showing respect. You may choose to say, âThank you, but Iâm going to choose to live on the street because I donât want to walk away from the drugs. Iâm not willing to give them up to be part of your family.â If you turn down the offer, the fault is on you for the effects of your choice, not on the person who extended grace. That person did the loving thing to offer to help you get out of the situation. You cannot say that they were being unloving. God doesnât send people to hell. People choose to go there. When you choose to follow Jesus, there is only one house rule: Jesus has already paid for your ticket into heaven. Heâs already forgiven you! All youâve got to do is accept it.  If you want to do your own thing and reject Godâs offer of grace, then he is not being unloving. You are choosing to ruin your life. God has the right to make house rules for his home in heaven. The choice to follow is up to you. [PLAY todayâs audio teaching from Pastor Rick >>]( Talk It Over - Do you believe God has the right to make the rules about who gets into heaven? Why or why not?
- How does giving you a choice about where you spend eternity show that God loves you?
- Why is there freedom in surrendering your life to Jesus? God wants to spend eternity with you Though God wants to spend eternity with you, your sin separates you from him, and thereâs nothing you can do to make things right. So you need someone to save you from your sins and make you acceptable to God. Thatâs why God sent Jesus. Jesusâ death on the cross paid for every wrong youâve ever done or will do. Jesus made it possible for you to have a relationship with God the Father. The Bible says, âWe are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are â (Romans 3:22 NLT). You can start your journey with Jesus by believing in him and confessing your sins. If youâre ready to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, start by praying this simple prayer: âDear God, I know Iâm a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe that he died for my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust him as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesusâ name I pray. Amen.â If you just prayed to accept Jesus, please email me at Rick@PastorRick.com and let me know about it. Iâd like to send you some free materials to help you start your journey with Jesus. The post [The House Rules of Heaven]( appeared first on [Pastor Rick's Daily Hope](.
