[Pamela Pugh for Congress]( {NAME}, Throughout this entire election, I’ve faced microaggressions and macroaggressions from the media and my opponents. The attacks just don't stop coming, and I am sick and tired of the slander and disrespect. I knew that our pro-peace, people-powered movement would rile up many feathers, but this constant barrage of attacks shows that our momentum is making waves. They’re trying to dismantle what we’ve built. Our fundamental rights are on the ballot this election cycle, and the critics we’ve encountered don’t want to see a Michigan that supports a ceasefire in Gaza, affordable and quality healthcare for all, economic dignity and opportunity for everyone, or increased investment in public health, education, and our children’s futures. [Contributing just $10 right now could be the deciding factor in whether Michigan stands on the right side of history or falls prey to the status quo.]( [We are only $15,000 away from hitting our goal of $20,000, which means we can pay all our canvassers that have been working in overdrive trying to get to every last voter](. As the only Black woman in this race and the sole advocate for progressive values—like calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire—I’ve made no friends in the process. But seeing a comment that I’m running a campaign with criminals left me speechless. Labeling my late colleague, and by extension me, as criminals is a level of disrespect I haven’t seen directed at any of my opponents this cycle. It’s deeply hurtful and jarring that the only Black scientist candidate in this competitive district is being subjected to such treatment. Yet, I remain committed to standing up for what I believe in, and I believe in Michigan. These attacks only prove that we have the potential to bring real change to Michigan. Our opponents may self-fund their campaigns or boast about average contributions of $650, but I am proud to say we’re genuinely grassroots, averaging about $25 per contribution from everyday working families who want to see an end to the status quo and the start of a new Michigan. [I really have to focus on stopping all of those that are trying to bring down our people-powered, pro-peace movement, and I won’t be able to get on that many fundraising calls, so any contribution you make helps me focus on what really matters in this election: fighting for you.]( Thanks for your continued support, Dr. Pamela Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
