this grassroots community has had my back against the “establishment.” – now, will you help Dr. Pamela Pugh? [Pamela Pugh for Congress]( {NAME}, I’m reaching out today on behalf of my good friend Dr. Pamela Pugh, who is running for an open seat in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District and is the only candidate in her Democratic primary to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Perhaps because Dr. Pugh has joined me in calling for a ceasefire, perhaps because she isn’t cozied up to big-money establishment donors in Lansing or Washington D.C., or perhaps because they simply think Dr. Pugh can’t win this competitive primary “on paper,” entities like the DCCC, the Detroit Free Press, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have endorsed her leading opponent, a sitting state Senator. [They seem to be writing a strong, history-making candidate like Dr. Pugh off. I wonder why…]( {NAME}, if you’re the kind of person who believes the pundits, abides by the Detroit Free Press endorsement, or does what the national Democratic Party in DC tells you to, then you’d be surprised to find me in Congress… where I won a Democratic primary back in 2018 by less than 1,000 votes. The so-called “kingmakers” didn’t think a child of Palestinian immigrants and a born and raised Detroiter could win a competitive six-way primary election back in 2018 for my seat in Congress. But, together – our grassroots movement proved them wrong. [In 2024, in Michigan’s 8th District, we have a chance to prove them wrong again. We have a golden chance to show AIPAC and other powers that be that they can’t buy our elections, and they can’t beat boots on the ground who will out-organize them and win by communicating Dr. Pamela Pugh’s progressive values to the working people of Michigan’s 8th District.]( If you've stored your info with ActBlue Express, we'll process your contribution instantly: [DONATE $8]( [DONATE $20.24]( [DONATE $100]( Make no mistake, Dr. Pugh can win this race – just like I beat the “conventional wisdom” in 2018. Simply put, I won because I knew better than the National Democratic Party what my community wanted and needed from our next member of Congress. Simply put, Dr. Pugh will win because she’s been deeply embedded in the Flint and Saginaw communities, dedicating her life’s work to fighting for our rights to clean water, affordable housing, health equity, ending educational disparities, and more. People in the district have seen Dr. Pugh doing this work for years, and I know she’ll fight by my side for the rights of marginalized communities in Congress… if we can get her there. We just need to give her campaign a boost to get her over the finish line before the first weekend of early voting ends. Thanks for your help, Rep. Rashida Tlaib --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
