[Pamela Pugh for Congress]( {NAME}, as of today, only FOUR WEEKS are left until our primary election. This is the start of the home stretch of our race when every day of our campaign will be jam-packed with events, debates, voter contact, fundraising, and everything in between. Tonight, I will take the stage to fight for debate in our Democratic Primary in Michigan's 8th Congressional District. Although I will be alongside two fellow Democrats, I won't lie, {NAME}, I will feel a bit lonely. Here's why: - I will be the only candidate on stage who is a person of color. In fact, one of my other qualified opponents, Mayor Neeley of Flint dropped out in late April and cited the reason was that Democratic Leaders from D.C. were ignoring quality candidates of color in this race and had handpicked one of our establishment opponents to support and endorse in this race. - I will be the only candidate on stage who is an expert in Public Health. Our district faces many public health challenges, from the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic to the ongoing effects of the Flint Water Crisis. - I am the only candidate who has DEMANDED a Ceasefire in Gaza. My opponents have been conspicuously silent on this issue, despite the fact that 76% of Democrats support a ceasefire in Gaza [If you believe that Democrats need more Black women in leadership positions, more scientists and public health experts, and more pro-ceasefire and pro-peace candidates in Congress, will you donate $4 before I hit the debate stage tonight with four weeks left in this race?]( And you can see {NAME}, the fact I will be the only candidate of color, only scientist, and only pro-ceasefire candidate on stage tonight is a problem. Our opponents – both their campaigns and the establishment forces supporting them with dark money – are prepared to spend millions leading up to the primary on August 6th. Unless we can stay on track and hit every fundraising goal we set to fund our path to victory, Michigan’s 8th Congressional representative will not be: - Representative of our district’s diverse community. - Qualified to lead our community through crises like the Flint Water Catastrophe. - An advocate against the history-defining genocide in Gaza. [So,]( before I take the debate stage, I am asking for your help. Can you pitch in to ensure Congress gets the representation that Saginaw, Flint, Bay City, Midland, and all of Mid-Michigan so desperately need?]( History depends on you, {NAME}. Sincerely, Dr. Pamela Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
