Dear {NAME}, I’m sure many of you are just as disappointed as I am today seeing the results out

[Pamela Pugh for Congress]( Dear {NAME}, I’m sure many of you are just as disappointed as I am today seeing the results out of New York last night. Rep. Jamaal Bowman – a high school principal who ran for Congress on his progressive principles and became a member of “the Squad” was defeated in a record-breaking primary by a conservative Democrat propped up by millions in outside spending by AIPAC. So, this morning I started the day with a prayer for our movement and for the future of Michigan. Especially in challenging times, it’s important to find the good. I am grateful to find the strength I need to continue to advocate for what I believe is morally right: A ceasefire in Gaza, an end to all U.S. weapons transfers to Israel, and for Netanyahu to be held accountable for Israel’s war crimes. I am also so grateful for this grassroots movement and for you, specifically, {NAME}. Your support, inspirational messages, and continued investment in this campaign keep me going when I see pro-ceasefire candidates attacked and see their primaries flooded with millions in dark money and Republican AIPAC influence.[I am personally asking you {NAME} to donate 25 to help support our movement and keep fighting for a ceasefire in Gaza.]( But now is not the time to give in to the onslaught of outside spending by AIPAC and the pro-Israel lobby. [Our fight for progressive change must continue, so I am asking you to rally behind candidates like my good friend Dr. Pamela Pugh.]( We’ve seen versions of this playbook before. We see it in Michigan. We see it more often when the candidates are Black and Brown and not an establishment-backed self-funding candidate from a wealthy background. We see longtime political bosses and corporate lobbyists putting their thumb on the scale. As a Black woman, I know these same forces who make backroom deals are influencing our race here in Michigan’s 8th District and are also coming for Congresswoman Cori Bush on August 6th and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on August 13th in our Democratic Primaries. We need your help to keep progressive Black women fighting for justice in Congress. [Our fight for progressive change continues, so I ask you to rally behind pro-ceasefire campaigns like ours. We are locked in a tight battle against an establishment-backed candidate who AIPAC will support if push comes to shove. Will you join us in donating to #TeamPugh and our pro-ceasefire campaign to grow our progressive ranks in Congress?]( If you've stored your info with ActBlue Express, we'll process your contribution instantly: [DONATE $8]( [DONATE $20.24]( [DONATE $100]( [ANOTHER AMOUNT]( I won’t stand down. I will speak out for peace in Gaza and for economic and environmental justice for the often-overlooked Flint and Saginaw. We can’t let country club democrats continue the same old policies that fail black, brown, and working-class families in Michigan and beyond. {NAME}, although at this time I am feeling a lot of emotions, I know that our grassroots supporters will do whatever it takes to redouble our efforts to elect real Representatives of the people to Congress who will uphold our progressive values in Washington D.C. [We must stand together to advance our shared vision of a more just and equitable future. Donate now to keep our momentum strong and help us hit all of our goals as we open our offices in Flint and Saginaw this weekend!]( Thank you for your steadfast support and commitment to our cause. Warm gratitude, -Dr. Pamela Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
