[Pamela Pugh for Congress]( Hi {NAME}, Jacqui Patterson here, founder of the Chisholm Legacy Project, a resource hub for Black frontline climate justice leadership. I’m writing to you today on Earth Day (Happy Earth Day!) to ask for your support of my good friend Dr. Pamela Pugh who is running for Congress. I just recently won Time’s Woman of the Year Award for my work on climate advocacy, and there is no doubt in my mind I wouldn’t have received that award if not for my long-term collaboration together with Dr. Pamela Pugh. Dr. Pugh has a brilliant scientific mind and can translate complex environmental principles into advocacy and policy that fight environmental racism and make Michigan and our world a cleaner, healthier, safer place for everybody. [On this Earth Day, will you make a donation of any amount to help elect her to Congress, where our politicians desperately need her help and expertise on climate change before it’s too late?]( [CELEBRATE EARTH DAY]( For many years, Dr. Pugh and I worked with the NAACP to establish their Climate Justice Program. Together, we elevated intersectional environmental issues of Black displacement and Gender Justice after Hurricane Katrina. We collaborated on the public health response to the Flint Water Crisis and worked on the myriad issues of environmental racism endemic to that crisis. Then Dr. Pugh continued to work with me as I founded my current organization, the Chisholm Legacy Project – a resource hub for Black frontline climate justice leadership named after Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress. [I can tell you in good faith and good conscience that no candidate running for Congress right now deserves your support on Earth Day more than Dr. Pugh. Please pitch in $20.24 or any amount right now to her campaign for Congress →]( Thank you for your support, and Happy Earth Day. – Jacqui Patterson --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
