[Pamela Pugh for Congress]( 4{NAME}, This is John Pugh, father of Dr. Pamela Pugh. I am very proud that my daughter has stepped up to run for Congress to continue her voice for educators, children, and families in Mid-Michigan who need more help from our next member of Congress. Before I ask you to [pitch in a donation to Pam’s campaign]( I want to share a story that I think helped shape who she is as a person and shows why she will be a great member of Congress. When Pam was growing up, I was teaching economics at Delta College. We sometimes joke that Pam was raised on a college campus because I would take her in with me every day as I went to work, and she went to attend preschool. Pam was always a great student, and I even got the pleasure of teaching her when she was taking college classes during her last few years of high school and earning her associate degree as a dual-enrolled student. One day during the semester, Pam wasn’t feeling well - she was getting a rash. Her mother thought it was measles, and at first, we weren’t sure what was going on. But things got pretty serious, and Pam had to be hospitalized for two months with liver and kidney failure. She was at the local hospital for one week, then had to be airlifted to the University of Michigan hospital. Our family was worried sick and prayed daily for her healing. During that tumultuous experience, Pam believe in herself. She had her sisters help fill out her college applications for Florida A&M University while she was in the hospital and Pam got accepted. She determined that she would be out of the hospital for Easter, and she indeed got out on Good Friday, just in time to make us take her to the Easter Sunday service. Pam is a fighter, she is tenacious and vivacious, she is resilient, and she believes in her ability to make change against long odds. That serious health experience motivated Pam to go into the field of public health and I could not be prouder of the life she’s led and the career she’s had in public service. Now, she’s running for Congress, and she needs our help. [Pam never likes me to brag about her, but because it’s a big moment for her campaign, I’m calling in an exception. Join me in celebrating Pam -- an exceptional leader, daughter, aunt, and friend to many -- today, with a contribution to her campaign for Congress! Please donate $20.24 or any amount you can before her campaign’s end-of-quarter deadline on Sunday at midnight.]( If you've stored your info with ActBlue Express, we'll process your contribution instantly: [DONATE $8]( [DONATE $20.24]( [DONATE $100]( [ANOTHER AMOUNT]( Thanks for helping my daughter Pam and her campaign. We’re so proud of her stepping up to run. John Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
