Add your name. [Pamela Pugh for Congress]( {NAME}: Do you want Congress to pass federal paid family leave policy? [YES]( [NO]( This week, over 70 businesses nationwide shut their doors in a show of solidarity to call for Congress to pass federal paid family and medical leave. In case you don’t remember, this vital policy was on the table during the negotiations over the Build Back Better Act in 2021 but did not pass. Currently, only 27% of Americans in the workforce have access to paid family leave benefits. [{NAME}, if you support federal paid family leave policy, sign your name now →]( This week’s walkout was meant to show the value of women’s underpaid and unpaid caretaking and to show what will happen if more women continue to be pushed out of the workforce because the United States does not have a federal paid family leave policy. Women hold up our economy – particularly women of color – and without a paid family leave policy these workers continue to be underpaid and set back in their careers. Nobody should have to choose between spending vital time with their newborn child or sick loved one or returning to the workforce as quickly as possible to collect extra paychecks. [During Women’s History Month, I am using my platform running for Congress to call for investing in women in the workforce. Please join me by adding your name here in support of paid family and medical leave policy →]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( In solidarity, Dr. Pamela Pugh --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m Dr. Pamela Pugh, and I’m a Saginaw native running for Congress in Michigan's 8th District. I've spent my career fighting to improve the lives of Michigan residents through public health initiatives, and as the Chief Public Health Advisor for Flint I played a pivotal role in standing alongside Flint residents during the water crisis. As a public servant, I currently serve as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education, a statewide elected position. I believe in standing up for the people and fighting for our democracy, our children, and our future. I've lived in Michigan's 8th District for my entire life and it will be the honor of a lifetime to represent my community in the House of Representatives. I'm relying on grassroots contributions to fuel my campaign to victory — [so please chip in what you can right now!]( Our email list is an important tool for us to reach Democrats and activists in Michigan and around the country.
