Read on to find out more Since replacing Jen Psaki as White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre has repeatedly struggled to project confidence and competence from the briefing podium, and anyone who has seen clips of her and Peter Doocy knows that she quickly turns testy and defensive before offering up anything resembling a coherent, honest answer. The Daily Caller [took a deep dive]( into how her influence in the White House might be fading. Read on to find out more! The Caller found that Admiral John Kirby, the National Security Council spokesman, has become a "mainstay" in briefings and that so far this year, when he and KJP are together behind the podium, they talk for approximately the same amount of time. Since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, Kirby has been a mainstay at briefings alongside Jean-Pierre to answer reporters' questions about the foreign conflict. Though Americans have indicated the war is not their top concern, Kirby has remained at the briefings -- only missing five through January until Feb. 27. Of the briefings he has attended in 2024, 19 out of the 22 total held, Kirby has fielded questions for almost the exact same amount of time as Jean-Pierre. As of Feb. 27, Jean-Pierre has spent about 11 hours and 31 minutes at the White House press briefing podium this year across 22 briefings. Kirby has answered questions for just under nine hours and two minutes in 19 briefings. In those 19 briefings when Kirby and Jean-Pierre were together, the press secretary spoke for just shy of nine hours and 11 minutes -- almost a perfect fifty-fifty split with her counterpart. "There is no precedent for this. Press secretaries always bring guests, right. It's like, 'Hey, we're gonna have the OMB [the Office of Management and Budget] guys brief you on the budget and talk to you about that.' That's normal," Sean Spicer, one-time press secretary for former President Donald Trump, told the Daily Caller. "That's as old as the job. But this idea that you have a co-press secretary is unprecedented." [...] Kirby's performance has been better received by some observers. "Sometimes I'll tweet out, like, 'this was a good job by Kirby.' I've had a number of [Republicans] tell me that Kirby gets it. I mean, I actually think he has the respect of Republicans. And so therefore, they listen to what he has to say and they find him to be a credible messenger. I don't think anybody respects Karine," Scott Jennings, a longtime GOP adviser in Kentucky and veteran of numerous campaigns, told the Daily Caller. "And so if you're a White House, and you're trying to communicate to the larger world and also the people in Washington, you know, your chief messenger has to be credible and respected. I think Kirby has achieved that." "I can't remember a time when this has happened. I mean, it seems to me they give Kirby all the important things to talk about. And they let her talk about the rest," Jennings told the Daily Caller. HOT OFF THE PRESS FBI Targets Conservative: The Blaze investigative reporter Steve Baker, who says he went to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to cover the incident as a journalist, [revealed]( Tuesday the FBI plans to arrest him Friday following his reporting on the riot. His attorney previously informed him that he would most likely face "interstate racketeering and property damage" charges. Baker told The Blaze in a Tuesday statement, "I'm not a depressive person, but I'm not happy about this. I have prayed, 'Lord, let this cup pass from me,' but apparently it's not going to." Biden Smoking Gun? Hunter Biden appeared for a closed-door deposition with the House Oversight Committee as part of House Republicans’ [impeachment]( inquiry into his father. Hunter repeatedly appeared to contradict himself throughout the [testimony]( and seemed to have a faulty memory, saying he could not recall any information from his business dealings at least 29 times. The transcript ultimately failed to produce any significant, new lines of inquiry for Republicans desperate to find a smoking gun in the palm of the president. Don Jr. Gets Death Threat: Former President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., had an unexpected surprise Monday after he was sent a letter containing white powder and a note with a death threat, causing a hazmat unit and firefighters to arrive at his Florida home. "It's just become a little bit too commonplace that this sort of stuff happens," Donald Trump Jr. [told the Daily Caller](. "Clearly, if this happened to a prominent Democrat it wouldn't be tolerated and would drive news coverage for weeks. The media would blame all Republicans and force them to answer for it, But since it's me, radical haters on the left will largely get a free pass and the media will barely flinch." A former editor for The New York Times, Adam Rubenstein, [said]( he was shamed by his colleagues and Human Resources (HR) simply for liking Chick-fil-A. Rubenstein, wrote in a [piece]( for The Atlantic that he and a dozen other hires did an icebreaker at orientation and received a prompt asking about his favorite sandwich. An HR representative scolded him when he answered the spicy chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-A. "We don’t do that here. They hate gay people,” an HR representative reportedly told Rubenstein. And then they lie about it... In the aftermath of the Atlantic story, several liberals [nagged]( about the contents of Rubinstein's tell-all piece, including 1619 Project author and Nikole Hannah-Jones, who claimed it never happened. The Atlantic fired back, however, sending journalist Jesse Signal an email in which they said that the piece was fact-checked and the anecdote confirmed by other New York Times employees with "contemporaneous knowledge" of the incident.
