[Harrowing images and videos]( have emerged following the highly coordinated attack, which crippled southern Israel and numerous towns and settlements throughout the region. Israel responded to Hamas' terror attacks with [airstrikes]( on the Palestinian city of Gaza, which razed buildings and left hundreds dead and even more injured. Israel's defense minister also promised to cut off food, supplies and electricity to Gaza. Meanwhile, the death toll of American citizens is climbing, with the State Department [announcing]( that at least 25 Americans were killed in the attacks and 17 were unaccounted for. Biden also [confirmed]( that Hamas is holding Americans hostage, but it's unclear how many. Although the Biden administration has [pledged unwavering support]( to Israel in its fight against Hamas, moderate Democrats and Israel Hawks [have been duking it out]( with the harder left-wing faction of the party, including the notorious "Squad," setting up a potential civil war similar to the bitter disagreements Republicans faced over Ukraine aid. As the U.S. creeps closer and closer to the 2024 election, Biden is facing his toughest test on the world stage since the botched Afghanistan withdrawal in August of 2021, while also staring down a battle among members of his own party. HOT OFF THE PRESS Bob The (Egyptian) Briber: Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez [is now facing accusations]( that he acted on behalf of Egypt, passing on non-public information and doing favors for their government in exchange for bribes. In a deliciously ironic twist, Menendez once [accused]( former President Donald Trump of acting as a foreign agent on behalf of Russia during peak 'Russiagate' hysteria in 2019. You're On Your Own, Jack: Biden [told Americans]( still trapped in Israel that they should book a commercial flight or use ground transportation if they want to leave after the Hamas invasion. However, some of the biggest airlines serving Americans, Delta and American, halted their flights in and out of the country. Hamas Sympathizers In Congress: A staffer [advising]( Democratic Indiana Rep. Andre Carson on Middle Eastern policy shared messages on her Instagram account sympathizing with Hamas after the terrorist organization killed more than 1,000 Israelis in an attack beginning last weekend.
