In the upper echelons of the Democratic Party, when the powers that be smell blood in the water, things can move pretty fast In the upper echelons of the Democratic Party, when the powers that be smell blood in the water, things can move pretty fast. Like hungry sharks, party apparatchiks from elected officials to pundits on cable news will swim along with a new narrative, and eventually devour any weak prey in their path. Unfortunately for President Joe Biden, warning signs are flashing that one of the most powerful cabals in the Democratic Party, the [Obamas and all their elite allies]( are beginning to circle the White House in the wake of Biden's disaster debate and his first major press conference since. The Bidens, for their part, seem poised to cling to power, despite all the outside pressure from the Obama camp. The Daily Caller's Reagan Reese [has more details]( on the fascinating dynamic between two powerhouses in the Democratic Party. Longtime allies of former President Barack Obama are pouncing on President Joe Biden as he and his family fight to maintain power within the White House. Biden and his campaign have insisted that the president is not going anywhere, despite deafening calls for him to end his reelection bid from fellow Democrats. His defiance has not done much to mute the critics within his own party. Individuals in Obama's orbit are increasingly piling on, arguing that Biden should step aside due to his age and mental decline. Perhaps the biggest domino yet fell Wednesday, when Democratic donor and actor George Clooney admitted that he noticed a severe decline in Biden at a recent Hollywood fundraiser. Clooney, notably, is a close personal friend of Obama's dating back years. Clooney hosted the fundraiser in California that featured former President Bill Clinton, Obama and Biden. In a viral clip, Biden was seen freezing for several seconds before Obama grabbed his wrist and appeared to lead him off stage. The White House decried the video as a "cheap fake," falsely saying it was edited to make the president look bad. Clooney, however, wrote Wednesday that the president was showing signs of cognitive decline at the fundraiser. "In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced," Clooney wrote in a New York Times op-ed. "But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate." Clooney's assessment was quickly backed up by other notable Obama allies, such as David Axelrod, Obama's chief campaign strategist, and Jon Favreau, a former aide who co-founded the successful liberal media company, Crooked Media. "That is devastating," Axelrod said of Clooney's op-ed. "It's devastating, and it's what people fear." "It was not surprising to any of us who were at the fundraiser," Favreau added. Axelrod, and Favreau's colleagues at Crooked Media, have been calling for Biden to drop out since the debate. After Biden's primetime interview with ABC News, Axelrod wrote in a CNN column that "duty and love of country" should compel Biden to "step aside." Read more from Reese's story [here](. HOT OFF THE PRESS Photo by Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images ‘Big Boy’ Presser Recap: Biden had his first major press conference with reporters Thursday night. Although takes on Biden’s performance vary widely, it’s arguable the president put up a solid enough performance to allay concerns among his party. Then again, simply avoiding a [total collapse]( during an event such as this is never a good sign: President Joe Biden managed to ease some concerns about his political future, though committing crucial gaffes, during a choreographed press conference. For weeks, Democrats have been calling for the president to drop out of the presidential race. Two weeks after taking the debate stage against former President Donald Trump, Biden took questions at a high stakes press conference while his political future remained in limbo. Despite the few gaffes that made their rounds on social media, the president managed a strong showing through the rest of the press conference, a sweet spot that allows his reelection campaign to see another day. In nearly an hour-long, already delayed press conference, Biden committed several gaffes while trying to prove to the press and his allies that he was capable of a second term. Lunden Roberts Exclusive: The Daily Caller's Reagan Reese [sat down]( with Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter Biden's daughter, Navy Joan, in an exclusive interview ahead of the release of Roberts' new memoir. The interview touched on how Roberts' family life changed since Joe Biden was elected president, and whether her daughter was familiar with her grandfather. Here's a snippet: It's a story the Biden family has no interest in hearing, despite finally publicly acknowledging Navy Joan four years into her life. The president's seventh grandchild, the daughter of his son Hunter, has never met her grandpa Joe or grandmother Jill -- even after they said in 2023 they only want what's best for her. As Lunden and Navy Joan concluded their tour of D.C., the Biden family, Hunter and his children included, huddled at Camp David for a family photoshoot after a disastrous debate night. Navy Joan, as usual, did not get an invite. "She was like, ’Oh, so [Biden is] out helping all these other people. But when he's done helping them, he'll come see me. Right?’ And it's like, ‘Someday.’ You have that hope. And the hope is throughout the book. You see that hope," Roberts told the Caller. Read more about Lunden's perspective on the Biden family [here](. Bob Good's Very Bad Downfall: In another [exclusive story]( from the Daily Caller, Chief National Correspondent Henry Rodgers digs into the precipitous breakdown of Republican Virginia Rep. Bob Good's political career. Once the Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Good has suffered a complete collapse in the political world at the hands of MAGA conservatives and traditional Republicans. As once source for the Caller put it, Good is simply "an asshole": Republican Virginia Rep. Bob Good had to pull off a tall task to become the first Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus ever to be ousted in a primary fight: align both the pro-MAGA and traditional, business-aligned wings of the Republican Party against him. Good did just that, losing his primary election to Virginia State Sen. John McGuire by less than a percentage point. McGuire received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump as well as the backing of Defending Main Street, a group that typically supports centrist Republicans -- not those like McGuire, who describes himself as an "America First, Christian Conservative." The unlikely bedfellows united against Good due to the powerful Republican's abrasiveness with other conservatives, insiders explained to the Daily Caller, as well as the costly decision to give an early endorsement to Ron DeSantis in the Republican presidential primary. More simply put, one source told the Caller: "He's an asshole." "He's perhaps the most unlikable guy in Congress and that's saying a lot with the likes of some others who are major league assholes," a Republican member of Congress told the Caller. "I don’t think there is anyone in Congress, conservative or not, who would pee on Bob Good if he was on fire." "He's even prickly toward his friends," the member added. Read more [here](. TRENDING Read the Caller scoop [here](. FOR THE RECORD KJP Gets Away With Murder: Since President Joe Biden's awful debate performance against Donald Trump, not a single White House reporter dared to ask Karine Jean-Pierre why she and her press team have repeatedly lied about Biden's cognitive ability throughout his first term in office. The dam seems to be breaking now, nearly four years into the Biden presidency, but the Daily Caller's Rob McGreevy [takes the White House press corp to task]( for ignoring (purposely, perhaps?) Joe's failing mental abilities. Grave Dancers: Several liberal media outlets disgracefully [fixated]( on former Republican Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe’s views on climate change in obituaries following his death Tuesday. After Inhofe passed unexpectedly over the Fourth of July holiday, The New York Times, Politico and the Associated Press referred to the late senator’s stance on climate change in their headlines. The NYT's headline [read]( "James M. Inhofe, Senator Who Denied Climate Change, Dies at 89." It further referred to him as "arguably Washington’s most prominent denier of the established science of human-generated climate change." Politico originally ran the headline "Former Sen. Jim Inhofe, who called climate change a 'hoax,' dead at 89." The current headline, however, refers to Inhofe's Senate career as being "marked by fight against climate science."
