His departure couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Gurugram-based startup, which offers shared living accommodations for working professionals and students. The company was knee-deep in negotiations for a bridge round from its existing backers, having failed to raise external financing.“The pitch was to further develop and leverage technology with the new financing. Amidst all this, if the CTO is quitting for whatever reason, it doesn’t sit well with investors,” a person aware of the negotiations told The CapTable. This uncertainty even gave its existing investors cold feet. Despite originally agreeing to a Rs 200 crore top-up at a marginal increase in valuation, Stanza has only received half this amount as investors tightened their pursestrings due to the company’s situation worsening.
