Following a 2023 Wall Street Journal report detailing widespread sexual harassment in the workplace, law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton was tasked with investigating the FDIC. Their May 7 report details how 500 individuals, close to one-in-ten employees at the entire agency, reported experiencing "sexual harassment, discrimination, and other interpersonal misconduct” in the workplace to the firm’s tip line. In the aftermath of the report, Biden-nominated FDIC Chairman [Martin Gruenberg resigned]( but the scandal could continue to cause trouble for the president as he battles low poll numbers, experts told the Daily Caller. “Joe Biden had a chance to take a bold action and show he cares about how women are treated in the workplace and cares about whistleblowers. But he cowardly hid behind his press secretary, who completely forgot this pledge that Biden had made to fire anybody who acted in this way," Republican strategist Mark R. Weaver told the Daily Caller. When he took office, Biden publicly promised to fire anyone he worked with who "treated another colleague with disrespect." "Once Senator John Kennedy questioned this FDIC chair the other day in committee and tore him apart, it became pretty clear that he would have to leave. Even then Joe Biden didn't fire the guy. Instead, he resigned," Weaver continued. Despite Gruenberg's departure, the issue could continue to plague Biden due to the issue of union protections for FDIC employees. Biden has cast himself as a champion of union labor during his decades-long political career. The issue is further complicated by Democrats' [outspoken opposition]( to former President Donald Trump's proposal to make sweeping cuts to the federal bureaucracy. Read more [here](. HOT OFF THE PRESS Photo by James Devaney/GC Images Trump Wins Over Bronx Voters: Black and Hispanic supporters praised former President Donald Trump as "the man who can save this country" during an MSNBC interview at a rally in the Bronx. Several voters in that demographic arrived at Trump's event in the Bronx, further indicating an increase of support for Trump. Polls have indicated that Black and Hispanic support for President Joe Biden has [plummeted]( to record lows since 2020. One voter told NBC News' Dasha Burns that it "doesn't matter" that Trump is being criminally charged with 88 counts because the American people want to see him be reelected. Two male supporters praised the former president and expressed hope he could save the country. "Biden has disrespected the people of the city of New York," one said. "This was the best city in the world. We're not the Great Apple anymore. We're not the Big Apple, we are the rotten apple." GOP Lawmaker's Daughter Killed In Haiti: Republican Missouri State Rep. Ben Baker's daughter and son-in-law died after violent gangs attacked them while they were serving as missionaries in Haiti, Baker said in a Friday Facebook post. "Most of you know my daughter and son-in-law Davy and Natalie Lloyd are full time missionaries in Haiti. They were attacked by gangs this evening and were both killed," Baker wrote early Friday morning. "My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain," he also wrote. The pair had been working for Missions In Haiti Inc., a [ministry]( owned and operated by David's parents. In a May 2023 newsletter post the organization noted the area in which they operated was run by one of the "nicer gangs." "This gang works to keep the “bad guys” out of our area and we pray that they will continue to be strong enough to keep some semblance of peace in this area," the mission wrote in the [newsletter](. Cohen The Crook: Michael Cohen admitted on the witness stand Monday that he stole from the Trump Organization, according to multiple reports. Cohen [testified]( Monday that he lied to former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg in 2017 about how much he needed to be reimbursed for a payment to the tech company RedFinch. While he asked for $50,000, Cohen [testified]( that he only gave the company $20,000. “You stole from the Trump Organization, correct?” Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche asked, [according]( to ABC News. “Yes, sir,” Cohen replied. FOR THE RECORD Media Shatters: Media Matters followed suit with several liberal outlets by laying off at least a dozen staffers following a federal probe and lawsuit by "X" chief executive officer Elon Musk. Staffers, some of whom have been with Media Matters for years, took to social media, announcing their sudden departure from the outlet. The layoffs followed Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton's [federal probe]( into the outlet for possible fraudulent activity by allegedly manipulating data on "X," formerly known as Twitter. Musk [filed]( a defamation lawsuit against Media Matters in federal court in November, as the site has accused the outlet of manufacturing images showing advertisements from major corporations alongside posts made by white supremacists and neo-Nazis. Rock Bottom: CNN witnessed its lowest-rated week in primetime viewership among one of its key demographics since 1991. The network reeled in just 83,000 viewers among the 25-54 demo during the week of May 13 to 19 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The total viewership for the week garnered 494,000, while its main competitors Fox News and MSNBC witnessed 2 million and 1.1 million. The low numbers dealt a major blow to CNN's editor-in-chief Mark Thompson, who assumed his current role in August after the [firing]( of CEO Chris Licht in June.
