[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. Since the beginning of the Covid, we've all probably seen a favorite restaurant close its doors never to reopen. The restaurant industry is certainly hard enough without something as unforeseen as a pandemic changing habits. While we continue to recover the lows of 2020 and 2021, there is more hope and Rhode Island's dining community has shown new signs of life. Restaurants around the state are popping back up, in some cases filling the spots of those that shuttered. As diners, we're the better for it. While it's hard to count every new restaurant, The Journal's Gail Ciampa has rounded up some 50 spots that have welcomed diners this year. A couple on the list, I've been to myself – my first visit to Downtown Tilly's in East Greenwich earlier this month certainly won't be my last – and I've got to say we're fortunate. [04 Lilly 05112023] Grace Bramhall and Ty Cosgrove have opened their first restaurant, Downtown Tilly an upscale deli in East Greenwich. Kris Craig, The Providence Journal Some spots, such as Gift Horse and Maven's, have grabbed lots of attention already, but Gail's list has plenty of restaurants you may have missed. There's one that even held a soft opening just this week. [Check out Gail's list and when the holidays are over start making plans to try something new.]( Providencejournal.com is always open.
