[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. Hopefully, Day 2 will be better. As is the case with anything new there are going to be hiccups and the forced detour of vehicles off of I-195 westbound, through East Providence to cross the Henderson Bridge was full of them. Commuters shared their horror stories of sitting in traffic for four hours to get into Providence. Some eventually gave up and went home, assuming they were in a place that allowed them to turn around. [Washington Bridge #1.jpg] The underside of the western end of Washington Bridge, which closed to westbound traffic on Monday. Last Friday an engineer working on site noticed and reported the failure of one of the anchor pins that hold beams in place. David DelPoio/Providence Journal I want to thank those of you who took the time to submit questions or comments about the closure and related effects. [Some of those submissions drove ideas]( we had not thought of and have also provided us with additional story ideas. While we know the importance of being there as Gov. Dan McKee and RIDOT Director Peter Alviti addressed the public through the media, the stories and experiences of those living the traffic headaches carry just as much, if not more, weight. That's where Journal reporters Amy Russo and Patrick Anderson also come in. The duo drove our coverage and helped to get the answers to many of the questions you were asking. And while we received many more questions than we could answer, we're not done yet. And if you continue to find yourself stuck in East Providence we can also help with a guide to [some great places to grab something to eat,]( so you can at least wait with a full belly. [Keep the questions coming]( and again, thanks for taking a part in what we do. We're all better for it. Connecting you with the news is our goal.
