It certainly appeared the stadium, which has become a graveyard of baseball memories in recent years, was on its final legs earlier this year. The city made plans to hold a farewell event at the park during the Fourth of July weekend, only to have rain cancel those plans. Along the way, Stefan Soloviev, a billionaire with ties to URI, made overtures about buying the stadium and potentially bringing baseball back.
