[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. Pickleball has been called the fastest-growing sport in America, but it has also attracted a love-it-or-hate-it emotion. Tennis players have brought their complaints to city and town councils across the state as pickleballers have taken over outdoor courts. In Newport, The Newport Daily News even recently reported on neighbors at one court, where pickleball use was designated the city, measuring decibel levels and hiring an attorney over the noise caused by the game. David DelPoio/Providence Journal It would only make sense then that someone would see an opportunity that exists at the intersection of popularity and disdain. And The Journal's Paul Parker has found just those people it looks like. Paul reports on the popular sport finding dedicated homes on indoor courts and not just tennis or basketball facilities that are being retrofitted for a couple of hours to host pickleball, but instead, businesses dedicated to the game. It appears to be needed as one person Paul talked to estimates there are 3,000 to 5,000 people playing the game on a regular basis in the state and who knows how many taking a more casual approach. And those numbers are expected to keep growing.
