[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. When we get the chance to dine out, especially without the kids, there's almost always that dance that I'm sure my wife and I aren't the only ones to perform. Where do you want to go eat? I don't know...how about (insert restaurant)? While on occasion we have our eyes on going somewhere new, when we don't have a reservation or are going spur of the moment we tend to end up at one of our favorites. But both favorites and new spots have provided memorable bites. Recently our executive editor Lynne Sullivan asked everyone here at The Providence Journal what the best thing they ate this summer was. [Old Green Eyes.jpg] Old Green Eyes from Mother Pizzeria in Newport has gin (or vodka), pistachio, Cocchi Americano and lemon. Provided Photo/Eryn Dion For me, one of the most memorable came during a family dinner at Spain of Narragansett and a Pork Osso Bucco special they offered in mid-July. (It's not in the story since it wasn't in Rhode Island, but the spinach, ricotta, garlic pizza from Brickyard Hallow in Portland, Maine, may have been the best bite I had anywhere this summer.) But some of the others that participated in this informal poll left me with some mouth-watering options I haven't tried yet – I've been thinking about the garlic knots cacio e pepe at the new Mother Pizziria in Newport since reading the story.
