[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. First I'd like to thank everyone that submitted questions for consideration in Tuesday night's 1st Congressional District Democratic candidate forum. It was a lovely night to be on the Rhode Island College campus and hear directly from 10 of the 12 candidates challenging for the party nomination. My own personal opinion, it was great to see the candidates focus on the issues put before them by moderators Patrick Anderson of The Providence Journal and Ian Donnis of The Public's Radio, instead of taking shots at their opponents. [19_CD1Forum_08222023.JPG] CD1 candidates, (Left to right )Aaron Regunberg, Ana Quezada, Sabina Matos, John Goncalves and Stephen Casey look out and thank the audience at end of first hour of the forum. The 10 participants were broken into two groups for 2 hour Special Election Candidate Forum. Kris Craig, The Providence Journal If you missed the forum live you can find a [full recap here]( or [watch the two-hour event here.]( Now we turn our attention to the candidates seeking the GOP nomination – Gerry Leonard Jr. and Terry Flynn. While this race has certainly garnered less attention, the successful candidate will find themselves in a higher profile following the primary so now is as good a time as any to get to know them. Well, sort of. Similar to the Democratic candidates, The Journal's politics reporters Antonia Noori Farzan, Patrick Anderson and Katherine Gregg posed a series of questions to the two candidates in an effort to provide voters with a deeper look at their stances. [You can find the responses here,]( though one of the candidates chose not to respond. If you want to learn more about both candidates, we're teaming up again with The Public's Radio and RI PBS to record an in-studio forum today with both Leonard and Flynn scheduled to appear. That forum will be broadcast later in the week. With the primary less than two weeks we've got you covered. Don't miss out on any of the CD1 election coverage.
