Since RI isn't accepting vanity plate requests let's see what Massachusetts is rejecting. [@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. Earlier this summer for my wife's birthday I made reservations at one of Rhode Island's nice waterfront restaurants. Rather than a date night, I wanted both of my kids to join us as they've started to appreciate food beyond hot dogs and chicken nuggets. My oldest actually slurped down his first raw oyster and my youngest gave a stuffie a try. And beyond the appetizers and entrees, it's probably not a surprise what they most looked forward to was dessert. Fortunately, there was no issue making it that far into the meal. When making the reservation I noticed a note indicating meal times were limited to 75 minutes. Knowing how busy this restaurant is, especially in the summer, I prepared for this time limit. After being seated we asked the waitress about the limit and she kindly told us not to worry about it. We had no interest in lingering, with two kids along they'd be no procrastinating, but still, the full meal lasted about 2 hours. The entire experience was worth it. [Blu Violet - rooftop dining] Will timed dining become a trend in Rhode Island? Kris Craig/The Providence Journal Why did I share this story? It turns out timed dining is starting to grab a hold in the restaurant industry and The Journal's Gail Ciampa is voicing her concern about it becoming more prevalent in Rhode Island. During a recent trip to London, Gail encountered a couple of timed experiences, leaving a bad taste. With a couple of locations locally employing the concept, Gail looks at the understandable reasons behind the idea and weighs them against the negatives.
