[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. I get the sense mayors and town leaders across the state are getting a feel for what it's like to be a school superintendent when a snowstorm is approaching. The feeling of anxiously watching forecasts to decide if school should be canceled was transferred to these municipal leaders who had to decide if fireworks shows should go on all over the state. In my hometown of Warwick, Mayor Frank Picozzi took to social media to explain why he made the decision to postpone Monday's planned show at Oakland Beach to Wednesday despite the predicted forecast proving to be a bit of a bust and the night remaining clear. That post led to a Facebook discussion between Picozzi and East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva, who also made the decision to postpone his city's festivities from Monday to Wednesday, about the challenges of making these types of decisions. Ultimately it's a reminder that our leaders have lots of tough decisions to make and even the seemingly lighthearted ones can be harder than anticipated. While many events were a bust, that wasn't the case for everything. Among those time-honored traditions that must go on was the Bristol Fourth of July parade, part of the country's oldest continuous Independence Day celebration, To capture all the sites, Journal photographer David DelPoio was on site, braving the occasional rain showers. [Bristol Parade 10] Despite the rain, Hope Street was full of people taking part in America’s oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration.
