[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. I'll admit, I'm not a cat person. It's nothing personal, they're just not my preferred pet. And for what it's worth we don't have any pets. But, wow, does cat declawing sound awful. If you're not familiar with the practice, which I wasn't until reading this story from The Journal's Katie Landeck, the process involves amputating the last bone on a cat’s paw, which includes the nail, so the nail can’t regrow. Ouch. The good news is that it doesn't happen often here in Rhode Island. That said it is still an option for cat owners who no longer want their cats to scratch or claw at anything. [Ms. Twiggy] A bill that would ban cat declawing is making its way through the R.I. State House. Ten Lives Cat Rescue That could soon change. A bill that would outlaw the practice has made it's way through the state Senate and a version is in the hands of the House. While it may seem like a no-brainer it is the second year this bill has been proposed and at least one animal advocacy organization in the state is against the measure.
