As we approach the 10th anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, we recall Heather Abbott, the Newport resident who suffered serious left leg injuries from the bomb blast. After three surgeries in four days, she opted to have the leg amputated below the knee. The foundation provides grants for customized prostheses to those who have lost limbs through traumatic circumstances.
