[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. It was there the whole time, yet it had gone virtually unnoticed. In an almost 150-year-old stained glass window in a former Warren church, an image of Jesus appeared. But this wasn't just any depiction of Jesus, it showed Jesus as a person of color. Something virtually unheard of for the time it was created. The Journal's Katie Landeck has the story of the window found in the former St. Mark's Church that has become a fascinating study for those with expertise in the area. “In the Sharp window we’re seeing some things that we think maybe we’ve never seen before,” the church's now-owner told Katie. [03 WINDOW - Gibbs-DeWolf] In the top portion of the Gibbs-DeWolf window, Jesus visits sisters Martha and Mary. "No one is triumphant or commanding,” observed one art historian. David DelPoio/The Providence Journal Even beyond the depiction of Jesus the window, along with another found at the church offer a view into the time that hasn't traditionally been seen. And of course, what's a good history without a little history? As Katie looks into the past, she talks with historians about how the window came to be and eventually ended up in Warren.
