[@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing. With the latest school shooting taking place in Nashville, Tennessee, this week the discussion over the placing of police officers in schools remains at the forefront. In Rhode Island, the presence of school resource officers isn't uncommon, but now those officers are adding a new tool to their assignment that has mixed reactions. The Journal's Mark Reynolds takes a look into the use of body cameras worn by police officers inside schools. [04 Bodycam] Warwick Officer Aaron Steere is among 16 of the city's officers drawn from all three patrol shifts who are wearing body cameras in a pilot project. Kris Craig/The Providence Journal For some, the argument amounts to increased transparency that also provides the officers with an added layer of protection. Opponents however have a different view at least one student and other organizations voicing concerns about using the cameras. While exploring both sides of the argument, Mark also explains how the cameras are operated and the differences that exist between using them in school settings versus the officer on patrol responding to a call in the community.
