Will Richmond | Managing Editor Communities & R.I. [@Will_Richmond]( Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at [The Providence Journal]( and this is the Daily Briefing. Today the race for President comes to Rhode Island. Democratic Vice President candidate Tim Walz is scheduled to visit Salve Regina University's Newport campus this afternoon for a fundraiser. Of course, Newport is no stranger to Presidential ties from hosting the Kennedy wedding to being a favorite summer spot to Dwight Eisenhower. The City by the Sea also hosted then-VP candidate Mike Pence in 2016 for a fundraiser during his campaign with Donald Trump. For today a team from The Journal will be covering Walz's arrival from the time he touches down in the Ocean State until he heads off for another fundraiser on Long Island.
