The first time I was called, I sat in the waiting until the mid-afternoon when we were informed the case had been settled. We were thanked for our patience and told the day would mean we wouldn't be called again for at least three years. The next time I wasn't among those vetted for a civil case and then we were told the criminal judge was on vacation so another jury wouldn't need to be formed. Again, a three-year break from serving again. While my stories are pretty tame, should there be a concern about how potential jurors are picked? They determined the ideal nighttime temperatures for alfresco dining to be around 75°F, and combined this with the date with the least chance of rain. This allowed them to map out the data and pinpoint the most perfect evenings of the summer in each state where temperatures are closest to 75°F and when the chances of rainfall are most limited. According to the weather data, Rhode Islanders are likely to experience their most perfect evening of summer on Sunday, July 21.
