I don't know if you do this, but when the electric bill comes each month one of the first things I look at is the bar graph showing how much electricity we've used. Not that it results in many changes in the electricity we use, but I'm certainly sure to turn off all the lights around the house after the kids leave for school and other little things just to save what we can. Lately, the longer days are certainly helping the electric bill, but it doesn't look like there will be much relief coming on rates. The Journal's Alex Kuffner reports that while Rhode Island Energy is "asking state regulators to approve a big rate reduction that would take effect from April 1 to Sept. 30, the company is already projecting that rates for the period from Oct. 1 to March 31, 2025 could climb as high as those in the last two winters."
