JEFFRY TURNMIRE?S MARKET MONSTER AMZN and AAPL Reported Earnings ? Going In Opposite Directions

[] [View in browser]( [View in browser]( [] AUG 4, 2023 [] [] JEFFRY TURNMIRE’S MARKET MONSTER AMZN and AAPL Reported Earnings — Going In Opposite Directions AMZN reported earnings and instantly zoomed skyward. Meanwhile, the reaction to AAPL’s earnings was… exactly the opposite (as Jeffry suggested yesterday.) Where does that leave us moving forward? And stay tuned for today’s movers and losers as Jeffry scans SPY, QQQ, IWM, and a slew of other stocks to find where the opportunities are today. [Click Here to Watch Now!]( [] [] JEFFRY TURNMIRE The Flash Crash: A Stark Lesson in Algorithmic Trading On May 6, 2010, the financial world was rocked by an event now infamously known as the "Flash Crash". In the span of just 36 minutes, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged around 1,000 points — nearly 9% of its value — only to bounce back rapidly in a volatile session that left traders and investors shell-shocked. Interestingly, it all started with the execution of a large sell order: 75,000 E-Mini S&P 500 futures contracts worth about $4.1 billion. Executed by an algorithm from a mutual fund company, the program didn’t take the market's liquidity into account. It was looking for the fastest execution, not the best price. And when other algorithmic trading systems detected this aggressive selling, they reacted in kind, accelerating the sell-off in a frightening cascade. Shares in respected companies like Accenture and Procter & Gamble fell to nearly zero, while Apple's stock momentarily surged to $100,000 per share. All of these wild swings happened in the blink of an eye, far faster than any human trader could respond. When the dust settled, the enormity of what had just transpired became clear. The lightning-fast algorithms that had transformed trading in the global financial markets, promising efficiency and profit, had amplified what should have been a minor fluctuation into a full-blown crash. In the aftermath, Wall Street rushed to put in place circuit breakers and other mechanisms to prevent a repeat. But the Flash Crash underscored a vital truth: even algorithms can make mistakes. The fascinating part? I've discovered a certain glitch in one of these trading algorithms that occurs under specific circumstances. Using this glitch, I've managed to maintain an unbeaten 52-0 winning streak. Want to know more? I recorded a video for you explaining how it works. [Click here to watch the video](.
