But in the Dominican Republic where I work, giving birth can be a death sentence. So you can imagine how worried Rilaine was when she discovered she was pregnant, knowing that the nearest hospital was too far away to provide prenatal care or help deliver her baby. Every woman and child has a right to a healthy life. Sadly, we still lose an estimated 800 women to pregnancy and childbirth every single day. [That’s why I’m asking you personally to please make the most generous gift you can today.]( Rilaine’s worries turned to relief with Project HOPE’s help when our team was able to refer her to a nearby pediatric center we support. Now trained health care workers monitor her baby’s growth and development. I feel such a sense of pride providing these lifesaving services through Project HOPE. [The donation you make right now can power Project HOPE’s lifesaving mission — here in my country and across the entire world.]( [Here’s some of the ways we can use your gifts to save lives:]( [Dr. Lovelace and nurse Evelin Serra with patient Marisel at Dr. Morillo King hospital in La Vega. Marisel’s baby boy, Daironi, was born premature at 31 weeks, weighing only 3 lbs. He’s two weeks old in these pictures. Marisel has had two other babies that were also born before their due dates. The doctor and nurse weigh and measure Daironi, and give her a refresher on Kangaroo Mother Care.](

[Rebuilding hospitals and other health infrastructure after disasters like the recent earthquake in Morocco and the war in Ukraine.]( [Match My Gift]( I’ve seen firsthand what gifts from the Project HOPE community can do — especially when every $1 you donate can secure $4 in support from public and private institutions. [So, when you can multiply the lifesaving impact of your contribution 4X, I urge you to please be as generous as you can.]( Gratefully, Emily Freehill
