Now is the time to push lawmakers to take action on cannabis decriminalization. Thousands of people are behind bars for marijuana possession even though it has been decriminalized in 34 states and counting. Criminalizing marijuana is a structurally racist policy that needs to go -- and so do Republican lawmakers who uphold these racist policies. In 2020, the House passed a landmark bill decriminalizing marijuana, but it was stopped in the GOP-controlled Senate. Now with a Democratic majority in the Senate, we have a real chance to pass this bill.
