Hey there, We’re writing to let you know that on November 1, 2023 international transactions will start incurring a transaction fee equal to 3% of the transaction for users on our Personal plan, with a minimum fee of $0.50. This kind of fee is standard for most debit and credit cards, and covers the fees charged by card networks for transactions made at merchants based outside the US. Domestic transactions will continue to be free. Users on our Pro and Teams plans will not incur foreign transaction fees. Visit privacy.com/pricing to sign up or learn more about our paid plans. Please refer to the end of this email for links to the relevant updated terms that are necessary to effect this change. Why we are making this change Since launching in 2015, we’ve absorbed all foreign transaction fees on behalf of our users, even though passing through such fees is standard for most debit and credit cards. Unfortunately, we cannot continue to subsidize these costs at our scale today, but we don’t want to restrict the ability for our users to spend internationally. Faced with the decision of cutting off international spend, or passing through fees like most card programs, we’re opting for the latter. We know you have choices when it comes to how you pay, and this change is not something we take lightly. We look forward to continuing to earn your support by investing in our products and features to bring you the best possible service. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at [support@privacy.com](mailto:support@privacy.com?subject=Re%3A%20Important%20change%20to%20our%20international%20transaction%20terms).
