On October 1st, the government is set to shut down when the current budget bill expires: But instead of offering a realistic proposal to keep the government open, House Republicans are calling this week an âanti-woke weekâ and spending all their time attacking fake issues and things like diversity and environmental initiatives:  [Will you pitch in $3 to help me get more progressives elected to Congress who will prioritize solving real problems for the American people over pandering and showmanship?]( At least you canât say itâs out of character for them. This kind of dangerous disregard for the basic issues of governance is exactly what we got throughout the first Trump administration. And itâs exactly what weâd be in for again if heâs re-elected in November. The Congressional Progressive Caucus is ready to work on serious proposals to keep the government functioning so that basic services can continue after October 1st. But if MAGA leaders like Trump and Mike Johnson think they can force us to compromise our values by dragging things out until the very last minute, they couldnât be more wrong. Iâm doing everything I can to keep the government open, and once we succeed weâll be doing everything we can to make sure Republicans lose the White House and the House majority on Election Day.
