Last week, over 400 exhibitors showcased their technology and products at EASTEC in West Springfield, MA. We spent the whole week walking all over the show to capture the most interesting happenings and learn more about the latest technology. Here are some of the must-see moments from the show. [watch video]( [HIGHLIGHTS FROM EASTEC 2021]( FROM TOOL PRESETTING TO TOOL INSPECTION Zoller unveiled their new »mμFocus«, the next generation of their ready solutions for total cutting tool management, so we couldn’t miss the chance to take a look at their new piece of technology. As we were there, we also learned more about their tool presetting and tool management solutions. [watch video]( [FROM TOOL PRESETTING TO TOOL INSPECTION]( WHEN CUSTOM TOOLING BECOMES A STANDARD GWS Tool Group showcased some of their top-of-the-line tooling solution. From monoblock, diamond-style milling tools all the way through ceramic and thread whirling inserts, John Kiiffner, Director of Sales for GWS, walked us through the most recent additions to their cutting tools portfolio. [watch video]( [WHEN CUSTOM TOOLING BECOMES A STANDARD]( EVERYTHING SWISS TOOLING Who does Swiss machining? And have you heard of iSwiss? If you haven’t, you won’t want to miss this! Dragan Jovanovic and Amari Jones over at the iSwiss booth showed us all about their Swiss tools and work holders, safety guarding, and discussed the benefits about using a local distributor for your hard-to-get Swiss parts. [watch video]( [EVERYTHING SWISS TOOLING]( WEAPONS OF MASS PRODUCTION Gorilla Mill booth at EASTEC was epic, and not just because of the massive gorilla statue positioned at the center of the booth. Kevin Cranker, President of Gorilla Mill, walked us through their cutting tools lineup, including the newest 6 flute Kong end mills and the 6 flute Chimpbreakers (see what they did there?!). [watch video]( [WEAPONS OF MASS PRODUCTION]( SIMPLIFY YOUR QUOTING PROCESS Our visit at the Paperless Parts booth was eye-opening. We spoke with Jason Ray, CEO and co-founder of the company, and really dug into what makes investing in your office systems just as important as investing in big shiny machines for your shop floor. Here’s how automated and digitized quoting empowers all shops to operate more efficiently and grow revenue. [watch video]( [SIMPLIFY YOUR QUOTING PROCESS]( DOUBLE SPINDLE – DOUBLE PRODUCTION! SW Machines is all about production machining and high machine utilization. During our visit at their booth, we got a taste of it. Kirk Stewart, CSO and General Manager of SW North America, showed us their BA322i, a plug & play solution featuring a twin-spindle horizontal machining center, integrated 6-axis robot and vertical workpiece storage. [watch video]( [DOUBLE SPINDLE – DOUBLE PRODUCTION!]( THE MACHINES THAT MAKE CUTTING TOOLS How are cutting tools made? The answer is ANCA. Their CNC tooling cutter grinders are widely used by many tools manufacturers to make their cutting tools. We took a peek at their FX7 Linear, a compact CNC cutter grinder integrated with a Fanuc robot loader capable to change both workpieces and grinding wheels. [watch video]( [THE MACHINES THAT MAKE CUTTING TOOLS]( LET’S TALK ABOUT CNC PROGRAMMING We visited ESPRIT booth at EASTEC and bounced off some common issues machinists face when they program. Ian is bringing forward some programming issues he's found in his own shop to see how ESPRIT would handle them! [watch video]( [LET’S TALK ABOUT CNC PROGRAMMING]( IMPROVE PRODUCTION TIMES AND OEE How do you maximize the efficiency of the machines on the shop floor? We spoke with Jim Finnerty, Product Manager at Wintriss, to learn more about ShopFloorConnect 6.0, the next generation software designed to monitor CNC machine efficiency and identify the reasons behind downtime in the shop.
