Many of you have asked about my other investments, so I thought Iâd explain more in case you want to find out about them. Itâs a bit of a personal story. Some of you know I met my wife, Camille, when she was the accountant for my trading group back in the 1980âs. When Camille married me and moved to Bermuda, she missed the mental stimulation she had gotten from work, so she began investing for us. Being in a very high pressure trading position, this suited me fine, especially given her background in accounting and real estate. After we moved to the U.S.A., I was traveling a lot while doing option consulting for financial firms, so Camille began focusing on how we could create alternative income streams so I could be home more with her and our two sons. While my trading career had been very good to us, we didnât want to start making retirement withdrawals at such an early age. Plus, withdrawals just didnât seem smart or reliable as a lifelong source of funds so diversified income streams made sense. So, we invested in a couple of oil partnerships based on my expertise; I began trading options for us personally, and we bought some real estate rentals to diversify since we both had some real estate experience. Camille started a little financial blog because she likes to write and enjoys investing, and quickly became fascinated with online business. Then she somehow coerced me into doing a few videos about how to trade, reminding me that I had always wanted to teach if I wasnât trading:) Fortunately ( I think?), the videos âblew upâ on YouTube, and Power Cycle Trading was born, requiring a lot of my time and attention ever since then. So, over the past 30 plus years, Camille has become something of the family CFO handling taxes, personal finances, managing our rentals and other things I get to avoid, plus investing our core âretirementâ portfolio. Sheâs done just about everything over the years from buying real estate to hiring financial advisors to picking individual stocks and bonds, some trading (which wasnât her thing), as well as investing in funds of all types, while Iâve done my thing: trading. Weâre actually a pretty good team and have a lot of fun with all of this. Over the past decade Camille has gravitated toward defensive ETF portfolios due to their simplicity and risk management aspects since weâre not exactly young anymore. While we tend to both be value investors at heart, she now invests in more momentum based ETF portfolios to avoid the risk of buy and hold (hope) for our core âretirementâ portfolios. Hereâs whatâs cool: based on over 40 years of data, these portfolios have higher returns than the related index benchmarks, but with shorter and lesser drawdowns. And theyâre free since Camille does the ETF rotations herself, which occur 1 to 4 times a month. So, yes, these investments are working very well for our core portfolios. When I tire of trading, and we both tire of our various alternative income adventures, we feel quite certain these ETF portfolios will allow for at least a 5% retirement withdrawal should we choose while leaving at least half the returns to compound. If any of this interests you, Camille shares our alternative income and investing adventures at her blog, [RetireCertain.com]( and her [YouTube channel](. To Your Success! Larry Gaines
