[View it in your browser.]( Dear Law Enforcement Professional, Now that hundreds of agencies around the US are carrying the BolaWrap remote restraint device in the field, we are seeing more and more field uses where suspects are safely taken into custody without the need for higher levels of force. → On December 11, 2020, Beaufort PD in South Carolina responded to a suicidal subject armed with 2 knives. After officers convinced him to drop the knives, the subject remained uncooperative. Officers the used the BolaWrap to safely subdue the noncompliant subject and take him into custody without injury (see bodycam footage below). The subject was safely transported to hospital for evaluation. [WATCH FOOTAGE]( → On November 5, 2020, Virginia PD in Minnesota responded to a call about a noncompliant subject who had fled during transport while on mental health hold at a hospital. The officer on scene deployed the BolaWrap, which was captured on bodycam (see video below). The officer was able to safely apprehend the subject without injury to himself or the subject, and without needing to use any higher levels of force. [WATCH FOOTAGE]( → On December 15, 2020, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a 50-year-old homeless man throwing beer bottles. Deputies used the BolaWrap to take him into custody, and neither the man nor the deputies were injured. The man was booked into jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. The BolaWrap was used along with other law enforcement tools to take the subject into custody without any injuries to himself or any of the responding officers.
