Start by prioritizing your own wellness today, with the understanding that your survival depends upon it. No one else can do that for you. [Stay strongly connected with your loved ones]( eat a healthy diet, [prioritize your sleep]( and pursue a hobby that makes you feel happy and relaxed. Practice gratitude, exercise regularly, and enjoy moments of solitude and tranquility. If you are struggling, consider reaching out to [peer support]( a chaplain, a law enforcement therapist, or a trusted friend who "gets it." If you’re hesitant to take good care of yourself, then consider that the difference between growing stronger in the face of adversity and being torn apart by it often comes down to recovery. People can deal with enormous stress if they have a chance to rest and heal at intervals, but without rest and recovery, stress destroys us all over time.
