[Facebook]([Twitter]([Instagram]( [Website](  Apple Reality Pro mixed headset could come up with yet another new charging connection POCKET-LINT What's happened? It's almost certain Apple will announce its long-awaited mixed reality headset - thought to be called Reality Pro - during its WWDC 2023 keynote address in June. There are so many rumours and alleged playtests of the device that bookies have likely stopped taking bets on it. Now then, it's more about fleshing out the details, and that includes some of the minor specs - such as the [charging format Apple is likely to adopt](. Why does it matter? According to Apple expert Mark Gurman, the Apple Reality Pro headset will not charge through USB-C - even though the company is in the process of switching every other device category in its line-up to exactly that. Instead, it'll have a new proprietary connector - one that attaches to the headset magnetically. What's my take? Just as Apple is set to ditch Lightning for good - in order to comply with the new EU ruling on standardised charging - it seems set to create yet another proprietary format for a forthcoming device. However, this is likely to be through necessity than a desire to flog you first-party accessories. The rumoured magnetic connector is for Apple's mixed reality headset only and is designed to keep an external battery pack hooked up to the device during operation, without the danger of them becoming uncoupled. Whether users will be that happy about having a cable running from headset to pocket is a debate for another day. But, from what we've heard about the magnetic tip, it does sound elegant - much like USB equivalents we've seen before (as pictured) which allow you to easily swap between mobile formats. How the battery pack itself will be charged is not quite as clear. We guess it won't be Lightning.  VW ID.5 review: Hey good lookin' POCKET-LINT What's happened? Volkswagen, like Audi, has a trick up its sleeve when it comes to its mid-sized SUV. Sitting in the so-called C segment - the biggest selling segment of the market - the company offers not one, but two electric models. The "sportier" ID.5 sits alongside the ID.4, just as the Audi Q4 sits alongside the Q4 Sportback. Our quick verdict The VW ID.5 is a good-looking electric SUV, basically the same as the ID.4. But despite the sporty looks, it's not especially sporty on the road and is a little more expensive than it perhaps should be.
