The [BBC is finally ready]( to offer regional news programmes in HD to Freeview and YouView viewers. Why does it matter? The vast majority of regional BBC One HD services will be available to view free-to-air on TVs and set-top-boxes from tomorrow, Wednesday 22 March 2023. The only exception is in the South East of England, with South East Today set to be rolled out in high definition from 26 April. What's my take? It's only take the BBC 17 years to bring HD versions of its local news services to digital terrestrial TV (after launching BBC One HD in 2006). Maybe it'll only take another 16 to move them up to 4K. Just as 8K becomes available.  iPhone 15 again tipped for USB-C fast charging but with a catch POCKET-LINT What's happened? There have been plenty of reports on Apple's plans to adopt USB-C for its next iPhone range, including speculation on an "Apple-certified" scheme to restrict fast charging to approved cables and devices only. Now [a renowned analyst has weighed into the debate](. Why does it matter? As part of a report into the manufacture of 20W chargers for this year's iPhone 15 series handsets, Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that faster iPhone charging will be possible through optimisation, but only if a plug or cable carries the MFi (Made For iPhone) tick of approval. What's my take? We've heard a fair bit about Apple's plans to adopt USB-C for its next iPhone range - it has to, thanks to a new ruling by the EU. But, it comes as no surprise to learn that the Cupertino company will limit the best charging performance to cables and plugs that comply with its own lofty standards. In all honesty, it has to. Anyone who's had issues with third-party docks and power supplies in the past will understand why Apple would rather you used approved MFi (Made for iPhone) gear. And, according to Kuo, it's not that you'll be blocked from using an existing cable, it's just you'll only get the fastest speeds if it has certification. It's hard to find a problem with that.  A MESSAGE FROM OUR SPONSOR Swann Enforcer: Affordable CCTV for home and business security in 2023 SWANN A modern CCTV setup, such as the Swann Enforcer 4-camera, 4-channel Full HD DVR security system, can offer you complete surveillance of your property and help you fight against home crime efficiently. If you could afford its pretty sizeable price tag, there were few others that topped it for all round performance, despite a very competitive year in 4K TVs. Now, we have seen its successor - the A95L. And given our experience last year, we were a little bit excited to see what it has in store. Our quick verdict The A95K was always going to be a tough act to follow, but the A95L is showing all the right signs of doing that without issue. The brightness of the new panel should look fantastic with HDR content, and when combined with improved colour volume and enhanced detail and subtlety, there's a lot to look forward to when we get to see a finished sample.
