Apple is reportedly working a [HomePod with a 7-inch display]( for release in early 2024. Why does it matter? Renowned industry analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has claimed that the company will look to broaden its smart speaker range with a model that's more in-keeping with its other products - such as iPhone and iPad. What's my take? Apple's HomePod speakers may not be as smart as some of the competition but they excel when it comes to audio performance. So, the idea of matching that audiophile prowess with better smart home integration is a welcome one. What we don't know at present is whether the 7-inch display will be situated front-and-centre, like an Amazon Echo Show-style device, or if it's planned for the top of a new version of the HomePod. We suspect the former as it's only recently refreshed the standard model. That'll make it more useful in the kitchen, for example, where you can browse for recipes and the like while you enjoy spatial audio renditions of your favourite pop classics. Fingers crossed.  Samsung Galaxy A54 5G launch date confirmed SAMSUNG What's happened? [Samsung has confirmed the launch date]( for the next phone in its A-series - thought to be the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G. Why does it matter? It has posted an online save-the-date invite on the Indian version of its website. It reveals that the forthcoming handset will be officially announced on 16 March 2023 at 12pm, which we presume is IST (Indian Standard Time) so 6.30am GMT, 11.30pm PDT. What's my take? Samsung's A series is hugely popular and we suspect there will be plenty of eyes on the A54 when it's officially announced next week. There's no word yet on the A34, however, although we'd be very surprised if it doesn't also launch alongside the more powerful member of the family.  Asus Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) review: Double the fun POCKET-LINT What's happened? It's been a few years since Asus launched the 15-inch dual-screen Zephyrus Duo 15 as part of its Republic Of Gamers brand. That first model looked promising, but did have some worrying rough edges - not least of which was the uncomfortable amount of heat the laptop generated even during casual use. There was a 16-inch update last year, which switched from an Intel CPU to AMD's Ryzen processors, and that has been swiftly followed in 2023 with another update that introduces a new AMD Ryzen 9 processor and Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4000 series GPUs. Our quick verdict The dual-display design and performance of the Zephyrus Duo 16 are in a league of their own, but the high price is bit of a sticking point. While some will find the secondary ScreenPad useful, many will be equally well served by a more affordable conventional gaming laptop and an external display.
