Polar Electro - one of the oldest players in the heart rate tracking game - has [announced that it is unshackling its fitness tech]( from its own hardware, allowing other manufacturers to offer Polar's access to fitness data. Why does it matter? The first to take advantage of this is a new connected Casio G-Shock model - the G-Squad GBD-H2000. It will be powered by Polar, so you can access Polar's training and recovery features through the watch. What's my take? This is great news for G-Shock fans especially as the next fully connected sportswatch from the brand will come with the excellent feature set provided by Polar. We haven't tested it yet, but it could well turn out to be a perfect match. We fully expect other manufacturers to partner with Polar in the future, too. It looks like Xiaomi will be the first smartphone manufacturer to [debut 300W charging speeds](, after it teased its upcoming ultrafast charging tech. Why does it matter? The brand released a video and teaser image showing off some exceptional charging speeds on a 4,100 mAh battery pack. It can hit a 50% charge in just 2 minutes and a full charge in 5. It will seemingly debut on the Redmi Note 12 Pro+. What's my take? Realme has been wowing everyone with its 240W charging speeds on the GT Neo 5 in China and forthcoming GT 3 for other regions, but it looks like even that is to be surpassed soon. Xiaomi's 300W technology can go from flat to full in just 5 minutes. Mindboggling. We've certainly come a long way since I used to curse my Motorola Razr V3, where 5 minutes was around the time it lasted between charges.
