Rumours of Apple planning [an iPad that you can fold in half]( persist, with one well-connected analyst now reporting that he expects a release to happen in 2024. Why does it matter? Apple hasn't yet entered the foldable market, whether that's a phone or tablet. Recent rumblings had pointed to Apple choosing the latter as a way to test the water and refine its foldable technology before using it on its most important product. What's my take? The iPhone is such a core part of Apple's hardware business, I'm not surprised that Apple might be looking to the iPad for a folding device instead. There's likely to be lots of reasons, but one may well be that tablets are often used less than phones and the opening and closing of folding phones can lead to the gradual failure of the display panel. Experience and quality will be at the forefront of Apple's mind here and while Samsung is happier to be a bit edgy and take risks, Apple is not. Don't expect it to be cheap though: a big folding panel will come with a big cost.  OnePlus next to embrace foldable phones, possibly V Fold and V Flip OPPO What's happened? OnePlus is reportedly [working on its own foldable phone range](, according to an industry tipster, for release this year. Why does it matter? Likely to use the sister company's Oppo Find N2 Fold and Find N2 Flip as inspiration, the OnePlus foldables have actually been teased before - by OnePlus' CEO Pete Lau. What's my take? OnePlus and Oppo aren't walking exactly the same path, but they do seem to be heading to the same destination. A OnePlus folding phone is highly likely, therefore. Having registered trademarks for these devices is a step in the right direction, but we're not expecting to see them launch at the February event. We're not even expecting them at MWC later in the month because they'd probably have leaked already. So, perhaps we might be looking at OnePlus launching folding phones in the Autumn when the company traditionally announced its T devices.  Apple Mac mini (M2, M2 Pro 2023) review: M2 makes a powerful proposition POCKET-LINT What's happened? The Mac mini has always had something stacked in its favour: the price. For many years the Mac mini was the most affordable Mac, offering the advantage of being able to connect to your existing peripherals to create an affordable macOS desktop system. With the world changing over the past couple of years, there's renewed interest in this sort of solution: working off a docked laptop is fine, but many are discovering that having a permanent computing solution at home now makes a lot more sense. Our quick verdict The Mac mini maintains much of the appeal that it previously did, now boosted by the more affordable entry point, so if you're looking for an affordable desktop computer, the M2 Mac mini is perfectly placed to offer that.
