Apple is reportedly working on [new touchscreen Macs]( despite having spent years telling customers such a product would be a bad idea. Why does it matter? To date, Apple's solution for people who want to touch their screens has been for them to buy an iPad, with co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs previously saying that a touchscreen Mac would be "ergonomically terrible." What's my take? According to Mark Gurman, writing for Bloomberg, Apple is considering adding a touchscreen to the 2025 MacBook Pro. Gurman has a good reputation with such leaks, so it's worth considering. Apple has avoided touchscreen laptops, pushing the iPad as a laptop alternative and developing iPadOS as a productivity alternative. The question here is why? Why would Apple now change when so much has gone into developing the iPad to perform some of these functions? Well, sitting here writing on a touchscreen Windows device, it's obvious to me. Despite Steve Jobs saying that it would lead to a horrible experience, I've found that combining touch and typing has enhanced my workflow - sometimes it's just easier to touch than it is to use a trackpad to click. But, that question of how you can have MacOS and iPadOS still sitting in the same space still bothers me - could this be leading to a fusion of these platforms?  Confidence grows in rumoured iPhone 15 Pro's solid-stage buttons POCKET-LINT What's happened? Rumours continue to swirl that the [iPhone 15 Pro will ditch clicky buttons]( and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo seems convinced. Why does it matter? This isn't the first time that we've heard that Apple intends to move to solid-state volume and power buttons when the iPhone 15 Pro launches later this year. What's my take? Apple needs to come up with some sort of physical change for the iPhone 15 to fit with the typical 2-year design cycle (ignoring Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro). The suggestion of solid rather than clicky buttons has come up before and would allow Apple to reduce some of the hardware inside the device, leaving more space for other components, like battery. It would also reduce moving parts so potentially soften a point of failure. But, my problem with solid buttons is when it comes to things like forcing restart, it's nice to have a switch that's being physically held down, rather than relying on a touch or pressure sensor. It will be interesting to see how it is implemented.  Fujifilm X-T5 review: The photographer's choice POCKET-LINT What's happened? Following the release of its impressive hybrid shooters, the X-H2S and the X-H2, Fujifilm has launched something that’s becoming quite a rarity - a camera designed specifically for photographers. Of course, the X-T5 can shoot video, but it’s clear from the get-go that this model is all about snapping pics. Our quick verdict If you're primarily a stills shooter, and you like a bit of retro charm, we think you'll be delighted with the X-T5. It looks and feels great and it's compatible with some of the finest lenses around. The high-resolution sensor captures superb images and the camera offers pretty decent value for money, too.
